CAT Counselling
Unlike some entrance examinations, CAT does not have a single centralized counselling system where all participating colleges allocate seats through one counselling portal.
Instead, individual IIMs conduct their own admission processes.
IIM Admission Process
The broad process can include:
- CAT registration and examination
- CAT result declaration
- Shortlisting by individual IIMs
- Application/registration for further admission stages, where applicable
- Written Ability Test (WAT), if applicable
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Evaluation of academic and other profile factors
- Preparation of final merit list
- Offer of admission
- Acceptance and fee payment
- Programme commencement
Important
A candidate's CAT percentile alone does not determine admission to an IIM. Individual institutes apply their published admission criteria while preparing their shortlist and final selection.
Other Colleges Accepting CAT
CAT scores are also accepted by numerous non-IIM management institutions.
These institutes can have their own:
- Cutoffs
- Application deadlines
- Selection processes
- GD/PI requirements
- Academic criteria
- Work-experience requirements
- Fee structures
Candidates should apply separately to institutes whose admission processes require an individual application.
