GATE 2026 – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level examination that assesses candidates on their understanding of undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, Humanities and related disciplines. GATE 2026 was organized by IIT Guwahati on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

GATE scores can be used for admission to Master's, Direct Doctoral and Doctoral programmes in relevant disciplines at institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other government agencies. Some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also use GATE scores as part of their recruitment process. However, qualifying GATE does not by itself guarantee admission, scholarship or PSU employment.

GATE 2026 introduced Energy Science as a new sectional option (XE-I) under the Engineering Sciences paper.
