Bahra University (Shimla Hills) was established in 2011 under the state legislature of Himachal Pradesh 2011 and has been approved by UGC under section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is held in high regard, having been ranked number one in Himachal Pradesh and the thirteenth best university in India according to Silicon Valley 2014.
